The board game of Risk was invented in 1957 and still in the gold standard for straight world domination. No one can replicate exactly what it is because it has already done so well, but there are many games out there that use the same mechanics and have the same vibe. Here is a list of 5 games like Risk.

#05 1775: Rebellion
In 1775: Rebellion, players take the roles of the American Continental Army and Patriots against the British Army and the Loyalists. Each side tries to control the colonies, provinces and territories. They call on the aid of Native Americans, as well as the German Hessians and French Army in order to successfully birth a revolution or quell the rebellion. You control territories but need to take on more if you hope to win. With much of the same gameplay and thematic elements of Risk, but different strategies.
A game of Eclipse places you in control of a vast interstellar civilization, competing for success with its rivals. You will explore new star systems, research technologies, and build spaceships with which to wage war. This has many more paths to victory and different strategies but at its core it is all about galactic domination.
In Dust, seize power sources and capitals, develop your infrastructure, and build and wield vast, high-tech armies in your bid for global domination. It seems like Earth but the unending war and the new technologies have altered the political face of our planet beyond all recognition. There are more pieces to a turn like playing a card to show plan, develop infrastructure AND do combat, but the spirit is the same as Risk.
#02 Axis and Allies
Axis and Allies represent the different nations of the WW2 regimes of the same name. The Axis has Germany and Japan, and the Allies has the USA, the United Kingdom, and the USSR. This is all about world domination just like in Risk, but you have many more military options. Players have at their disposal infantry, armor, fighters, bombers, battleships, aircraft carriers, submarines, troop transports, anti-air guns, and factories.
Supremacy pits conventional superpowers against one another for control of the earth. It is just like Risk only with an integrated supply/demand economic system. Warfare comes in all forms from conventional, biological, chemical and all the way to nuclear. There are also nuclear mushroom cloud pieces to add to the board when a nuke goes off. Everything on this list of games like Risk will be satisfying, but if you are looking for the next evolution, this is it.
